Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Surprises a Navy Veteran Superfan with an Amazing Personal Gift

The Rock is at it again, spreading goodwill and a very special thanksgiving surprise for a lucky and deserving superfan. Dwayne Johnson recently hosted a special theater screening of his new action-comedy Red Notice, but also had a secret project in the works: a special one-of-a-kind gift for a one-of-a-kind fan, community leader and Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez.

ABC7 News covered the event, which took place on Thanksgiving in Culver City. After making an appearance at the screening with mic in hand, Johnson spilled the beans and called Rodriguez to the stage. The veteran was nominated to appear at the screening by a member of a gym where Rodriguez used to work as a trainer; Johnson researched Rodriguez’ devotion to the community and stated on his Instagram that, “Oscar’s story moved me. Takes care of his 75-year-old mom. Personal Trainer. Leader at his church. Provides support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence. Proud & humble Navy veteran. Kind human being.”

The gift in question? The Rock’s own custom-made Ford Raptor Truck. He originally intended to donate the Porsche Taycan his character Special Agent John Hartley drives in the film, but Porsche declined. Unfazed, he then decided to donate his truck to the superfan.

As can only be expected, Rodriguez was overcome with emotion and gratitude. He pledges to use the truck to “…encourage people and help people. And bring a lot of cheer to people.” Johnson seemed fully convinced that the gift was in good hands when speaking to the news, though he realized that he had a curious new problem to solve: “And now, I can figure out…how I’m getting home.”
